The stars for the 20th Mariposa Charity Skating Gala just keep getting better and better!!! We continue to attract an amazing line-up of figure skating stars.

The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia, and the Mariposa School of Skating are pleased to present another amazing line-up of skating stars. The Gala will be held in Barrie, on Thursday, August 6th, 2009 at 7pm at the Barrie Molson Centre, Mapleview Drive in Barrie.

Doug Leigh, the founder of the Mariposa School of Skating, joined forces 19 years ago with the Rotary club of Barrie-Huronia and year after year has amazed the community by producing an evening of elegance and exquisite figure skating to raise funds for local charities. In doing so, the Mariposa Gala of Figure Skating has become one of Barrie's highest grossing charity events and a premier event on the figure skating calendar.

This is your chance to see past, present and future world champions!!

The Mariposa Gala this year once again will be one of the premier charity events in Barrie, the pinnacle of charity events in figure skating, and one of the most exciting ice shows anywhere. Figure skating enthusiasts are encouraged to buy their tickets early to ensure a seat at this fantastic event.

Funds raised at this event support the Rotary House and the future Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. Rotary House will provide lodging facilities close to cancer treatment which is a valuable service for patients and their family members; just ask any cancer patient who has had to endure long treks during one of the most difficult times in their lives. The lodge will be for patients, and their families, who live beyond 40 km from the treatment facility and will serve as a sanctuary; a place for healing to begin and spirits to be built. The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia has supported the dream of families staying together during cancer treatment, and for those who come to the future Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie they will have the Rotary House, a lodge for cancer patients and their families.
