After first announcing the re-introduction of the Airbus A380 aircraft on its key routes in December 2022, Etihad Airways is set to fly the jumbo jet on select frequencies between Abu Dhabi and London starting July 25, 2023.

In a statement on its website, Etihad said, “Yes, the A380 is back, and you can now enjoy daily flights from London to Abu Dhabi.”

The double-decker aircraft will fly from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to London Heathrow (LHR). “The A380’s reintroduction provides a further boost to Etihad’s capacity into the key UK market, with a knock-on effect for the wider GCC and Indian subcontinent that will bring more visitors to the city of Abu Dhabi,” said Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, chairman of Etihad Aviation Group.

Etihad’s A380 features a three-room suite for passengers travelling first-class. Designed for up to two guests, ‘The Residence’ features an ensuite shower room, private bedroom with a double bed, and a separate living area.

The double-decker also features 405 seats in Economy Class and 80 seats in Economy Space (Premium Economy).

To support the return of the A380, the airline will launch five A320 aircraft, as previously announced. These A320s will complement the A380s and enhance Etihad’s overall fleet capabilities, as per the national carrier.

The flight time from Abu Dhabi to London is eight hours and round-trip economy ticket prices for July are currently at Dhs 2,925.
